17세의 나이에 성전환수술을 받고 이듬해 2004년 미스 티파니와 미스인터내셔널 퀸 선발대회에서 우승을 차지한 태국 트랜스젠더 농 포이(Nong Poy)씨가 지난 1일 사업가 오크 파화홍욕과 결혼식을 올렸습니다. 남자의 여동생과 농포이가 친구사이기 때문에 둘은 20년 넘게 알고 지낸 사이라고 하네요.

Thai society has become more open and liberal to gender diversity, but at the same time, Thai law has not caught up with this change.  The lgbt society in Thailand has tried to push for marriage equality legislation but conservatives are still blocking it and the laws we have now for same sex marriage is very flawed.  Lgbt marriages have not received their legal rights enough. I hope this will lead to the push for legal equality towards marriage equality.

태국사회는 성 다양성에 오픈되어있는 편이지만 동시에 태국법은 아직 그 변화를 쫒아가지 못하고 있어요. 태국의 동성연애사회는 동성결혼법을 촉구하고 있지만 보수주의자들은 여전히 그걸 막고있죠. 동성결혼은 아직 충분한 법적권리를 보장받지 못해요. 동성결혼법이 재빨리 촉진되길 바랍니다.
