화장실에서 대변 보면 암호화폐 준다 

울산과학기술원이 대학 건물 화장실 일부에 특별한 변기를 설치해 화장실을 이용한 학생들에게 암호화폐를 제공하고 있다고 했습니다. 이 변기는 배설물을 분해한 뒤 에너지원으로 전환하는 역할을 한다고 합니다. 

변기를 설계한 도시환경공학과 조재원교수는 로이터통신과의 인터뷰를 통해 "대변은 에너지와 거름을 만드는 귀중한 가치가 있다"고 밝혔습니다. 

한국에선 2021년에 있었던 좀 지난 이야기인데요 레딧엔 최근에 올라와 재밌는 댓글반응들이 있었습니다.

The energy part is cool, but why does crypto need to be involved? Just install this device in buildings and have it generate electricity.

에너지 부분은 괜찮지만 왜 가상화폐가 여기 연관되어 있을까?  그냥 건물에 설치하고 전기를 생산하게 하면 될텐데.

The crypto part is not necessary. It's a university research project and the crypto is like credits at the school cafeteria to encourage the students to participate and raise awareness.
