President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and NASA officials on Monday unveiled the first color image from James Webb Space Telescope. NASA plans to release additional "first light" images on Tuesday.

Webb’s image covers a patch of sky approximately the size of a grain of sand held at arm’s length by someone on the ground – and reveals thousands of galaxies in a tiny sliver of vast universe

Webb’s sharp near-infrared view brought out faint structures in extremely distant galaxies, offering the most detailed view of the early universe to date

미 항공우주국(NASA·나사)이 제임스 웹 우주 망원경으로 포착한 첫 풀컬러 이미지가 처음 공개됐다.

“지금까지 포착된 우주의 가장 고해상도 적외선 이미지”

제임스 웹 우주망원경은 나사와 유럽우주국, 캐나다우주국이 약 100억 달러를 투입해 개발했다. 제임스 웹 우주망원경의 성능은 기존 허블 우주망원경의 약 100배, 우리 눈의 100억배만큼 강력한 것으로 알려졌다.

나사와 유럽우주국, 캐나다우주국은 지난 크리스마스에 발사된 이 망원경이 지구로부터 약 100만 마일 떨어진 태양 주위를 돌고 있기 때문에 최초의 웹 이미지를 면밀히 관찰해왔다.
