황당, 디즈니월드 후룸라이드에 이용됐던 물 판매

25일 미국 매체들에 따르면 플로리다주 올랜도 디즈니월드의 놀이기구 '스플래쉬마운틴'이 지난 22일을 끝으로 운행을 멈췄습니다. 우리나라 롯데월드에 있는 후룸라이드 같은 놀이기구로 1992년 설치 이후 30년간 꾸준히 인기를 끌었습니다. 중단된 이유는 이 놀이기구가 인종차별 논란을 불러일으켰기 때문입니다. 이는 1946년 영화 '남부의 노래'를 테마로 만들어졌는데 영화 자체가 남북전쟁 이후 백인과 흑인의 우정을 주제로 한다는 것이였는데 인종차별적 요소가 포함돼있었고 노예제도를 끝까지 유지하려고 했던 남부를 미화했다는 비판을 계속 받아왔기 때문입니다. 

마지막 운영일이던 22일, 탑승 대기시간은 3시간을 넘겼고 사람들은 '작별탑승'을 하기 위해 몰렸습니다. 심지어 온라인 쇼핑사이트에는 이 놀이기구 수로에서 떠온 물이 담긴 병과 비닐봉지를 경매에 부쳐지기까지 했습니다. 작은 유리병의 가격이 149.95달러를 기록하기도했네요. 다소 황당하네요.

그냥 사람들이 지금 테마를 얼마나 좋아하는지 보여줘요.. 그리고 나같은 사람들은 저 놀이기구를 인종차별적인 요소로 결코 본적이 없어요.

Song of the South is a racially insensitive movie, and not many children know what it is.

"남부의 노래"는 인종차별에 무감각한 영화이고 소수 아이들만 그게 무슨 영화인지 알아요.

Literally the only ride I never got to ride because every single day the line was 6 miles long. I always said next time but I guess there isn’t one.

전 저 놀이기구만 유일하게 한번도 안탔어요. 왜냐면 한 라인에 6마일이나 되잖아요. 다음번에 타봐야지 타봐야지 했는데 다음번이 없군요.
