주주 배만 불리려다 `폭망`...눈폭풍이 일깨운 사우스웨스트항공의 교훈

미국에는 악명 높은 비행사들이 여럿 있습니다. 고객서비스랑은 매우 거리가 먼 항공사들이죠. 눈폭풍이 지나갔음에도 무더기 결항과 그에 대한 적절하지 못한 혹은 아예 없는 배상으로 고객들의 불만이 하늘을 찌르고 있는 항공사가 있습니다, 바로 사우스웨스트 항공사인데요. 미국 최대 규모 저가 항공사인 사우스웨스트 항공이 초유의 결항 대란으로 연방정부의 조사를 받을 위기에 처했습니다. 낡은 항공 스케줄 조정 시스템이 자주 문제를 일으켰는데 이 항공사가 시스템/서비스 개선과 투자 대신 주가 부양만을 위해 자사주 매입에 열을 올렸다고 합니다. 사우스웨스트 항공 관련 최악의 경험을 했다는 사람들은 어마어마하네요. 

개인적으로도 미국 항공사중엔 사우스웨스트와 스피릿은 믿고 거르는 항공사입니다;;

I had high hopes that the CEO of southwest would be honest and take accountability. Very disappointed that didn't happen.

My flight from Phoenix to Dallas on December 22 was for 5pm then they kept delaying until 12pm. Sat on the plane for 3 hours until they decided to cancel I had to drive 17 + hours to make it home for Christmas

12월 22일에 피닉스에서 달라스까지 가는 비행이가 오후 5시였는데 밤 12시까지 지연되었었죠. 비행기 안에서도 취소당할때까지 3시간 동안 그냥 앉아 기다렸어요. 결국엔 크리스마스 보내기 위해 집에 가는데까지 17시간을 운전해서 가야했어요.

They need to compensate more than just hotels, car rentals, food, and airfare.  Time is money and (loss) time during a holiday is especially devastating.

항공사는 호텔이나 자동차렌탈, 음식, 항공임 그 이상의 보상을 해야 합니다. 시간은 돈이고 휴일을 날린 건 정말 끔찍해요.
