이번에 데스밸리에 난 홍수는 '천년에 한번 확률'이라고 하네요. 

지난 8월 5일 이례적 폭우로 홍수가 났습니다. 

사막엔 물 빠지는 곳이 거의 없어 그런지 바로 비가 많이 오면 바로 강이 생겨버리네요.

I was there and we experienced it all. We were at the Inn parking lot that day and we were one of the few to get out of the mud and rocks and out of the park. What a story to tell!

I have been to the park several times and have never seen anything like it, nobody expected it, even the rangers.

나 그때 저기 계속 있었어요. 우린 숙소 주차장에 있었고 저 진흙과 바위덩이에서 탈출한 몇몇중 한명입니다. 정말 일이였죠. 여러차례 저 공원 갔었는데 한번도 이런 적이 없었거든요. 아무도 예상치 못했던 일이에요. 심지어 공원관리원도 예상못했죠.

Here in Oregon we are having a drought but Death Valley, Death fricking Valley is getting floods. Crazy world.

여기 오레곤에선 가뭄이 심한데 사막인 데스밸리에선 홍수네요.. 미친세상이에요

It happens alot in the Sonoran desert. In Arizona those storms go from CA to AZ and it won't rain for over 6 months here then out of nowhere we will get 60-80mph winds and up to 5 inches of rain in a few hours ...

소노란 사막에선 자주 있는 일이에요. 아리조나에선 저런 폭풍우들이 캘리포니아에서 아리조나로 오죠. 6개월 동안 비 안오다가 갑자기 60~80ph의 바람이 불면서 몇시간동안 5인치까지 비가 내리죠.

I grew up in the desert.  Flash floods are normal summer weather.  Moral of story...don't go to desert, especially in the washes, during summer monsoon season.

난 사막에서 자랐는데 갑자기 내리는 비는 여름엔 흔합니다. 사막에 가지말아요. 특히 여름 몬순기후동안엔 가면 안됩니다.

But no one died. Here in Seoul, South Korea died a lot by flash flood in a long time. But the southern part of South Korea is a drought. There is no doubt that it is a strange climate on this planet.

하지만 아무도 안죽었잖아요. 여기 서울엔 홍수로 많은이들이 사망했어요. 하지만 한국 남쪽은 가뭄이에요. 이 지구가 이상한 기후로 뒤덮여있다는 건 의심할 여지가 없네요.

It's the lowest spot in the US, I don't think it is going anywhere except the ground
