영국에 거주하는 유명유튜버 커플(구독자 47만명)이 있습니다. 

Joss and Janik이라고 하는데요, 이 외국인 커플이 런던에서 지내면서 여러분야에서 느낀 문화충격을 공유하네요. 딱히 한국인으로서는 그다지 놀랄만한 일이 아닌 사항들도 많네요.

The “ready made meals”, as we call them, are most definitely a British thing all over the country. It was a cultural shock for me too, as well as the amount of sandwiches they have in almost any store! 

이미 만들어져 나온 식품들은 영국에서 너무나 흔합니다. 나도 처음엔 문화충격이였는데 어느 가게만 들어가도 샌드위치들을 다 팔아요.

London isn’t really like the rest of the UK , some things are the same but you really need to visit other places to get a real sense of what we’re really like . A major thing is people are a lot friendlier outside of London lol ????.

런던은 영국 다른 곳과 정말 달라요. 어떤 부분은 비슷한데 다른 곳들만 가도 정말 다르다는 걸 알거에요. 런던 밖으로 벗어나면 사람들이 훨씬 친절하답니다^^;;;

As a Mexican that has lived in the UK for almost 9y now I can tell you that since Mexico I've learned to look both sides on the street (nunca falta el pendejo) and that saved me here when moving to the UK as I always looked to the "wrong side" in Mexico.

London is the best place to live. Full of oportunities, excellent accent, very multicutural and the whole beautiful city is a museun... aaand also the many beautiful green parks thanks to the crazy rain haha London is a little bit crazy, sometimes raining and two minutes later sunny.  I really loved to lived there while I been studying english.

런던은 정말 살기좋은 곳이에요. 기회로 넘쳐나고 영국영어는 매력적이고 다양한 문화가 공존하는 아름다운 도시죠. 비가 많이 내려서 아름다운 공원들도 많고요. 비가 막 내리다가도 2분뒤에 햇빛이 쨍쨍나죠. 영어 공부하면서 런던에서 살았던 때가 너무 좋네요.

in terms of the internet, as a person from Korea, it really shocks for me that the internet doesn’t work where there are so many people gathered like a concert venue. it is absolutely not normal in my home country lol!

인터넷 관련해서 한국인으로서 잘 안되서 너무 놀랐어요. 사람들이 많이 모이는 콘서트장 같은데서 잘 안됐거든요. 우리나라 한국에선 그런일이 절대 없답니다.

We don't tip in UK! In the last 10 years, they started adding "service charges" in the bills which you can generally ask to remove but looked down onwards. Also, it's free to get tap water in all restaurants !

영국에선 팁을 주지 않아요. 지난 10년간 "서비스비용"을 계산서에 추가하기 시작했는데 그건 손님이 없애달라고 요청할 수 있어요. 또 모든 식당에서 수돗물은 무료입니다.

Moved to the Uk from the Netherlands a few years ago and theres...a few things that really stood out.

- Banter, ripping into each other and making fun of friends / family when they are talking about sensitive subjects really messed with me at first. I've quite a few times pulled friends away to ask if they were alright just to be answered with ''its just banter don't worry''.

- The openness of so many people, it felt like people were much more happy to share stuff about themselves here. The Dutch can be quite closed off towards anyone not in their circle, so it was a welcome change to hear colleagues and friends babble about everything and nothing without having to pass some invisible trustworthiness test first!

네덜란드에서 영국으로 온지 몇년되었는데요 내가 느끼는 두드러지는 사항들은 다음과 같아요. 민감한 주제에 대해 이야기할 때 친구나 가족이 농담을 하고 서로에게 욕설을 퍼붓고 놀리는 것이 처음에는 정말 놀랐어요. 나는 몇 번이나 친구를 끌어내어 괜찮은지 물어봤지만 '그냥 농담일 뿐이야 걱정하지 마'라고 하더군요. 또 영국에선 많은 사람들이 너무 솔직해요. 서로에 대해 사적인 걸 많이 공유하는 느낌이에요. 네덜란드 사람들은 그런 면에 있어 좀 닫혀있거든요. 그래서 친구들이 모든 걸 공유하는 게 재밌게 들렸고 서로 깊은 신뢰를 쌓기전에 마구 모든 것에 대해 떠드는 걸 듣는 건 즐거운 변화였습니다.

I've been here for 10 years, I am from Portugal. We have a big café culture in Portugal, coffee shops are everywhere in every corner, they stay open until late night, like 9-11 pm. It's nice because they sell other things too, like beer, sandwiches, ice cream. In the UK, there are only coffee shops that close at 5 and then there are pubs. I find it very limiting and still struggle to accept it after so long

영국에서 산지 10년되었고 포르투갈에서 왔어요. 포르투갈은 카페문화가 잘 발달되어 있어서 모든 곳에 카페가 있고 밤 늦게까지 11시정도까지 열려있거든요. 그리고 여러가지 다른 것들 맥주, 샌드위치, 아이스크림 등을 판매해요. 그런데 영국 카페들에선 정말 커피만 팔고 오후 5시쯤 되면 문 다 닫아버리고 그 다음엔 펍을 가야되더라고요. 그래서 제한적으로 느껴졌고 이 문화를 받아들이는데 오래 걸렸어요.

English people don't kiss their friends on the cheek. Can lead to some confusion when you go in for a kiss and the other person has no idea what's happening.

영국인들은 친구들끼리 볼에 뽀뽀하지 않아요. 그래서 처음에 그렇게 할때 좀 혼란스러웠죠.

-Insane alcohol consumption and being drunk.

-People are polite and care for each other.

-Safety, even with rising knife crime and phone theft, it's still safe comparing to other places.

-London doesn't feel like a massive city because of the low rise buildings and narrow roads, and I love it.

-Insane banter

-People accept each other, and it's awesome. There are still some racists out there but overall, it's better than any other country I've been to.

미친듯한 알콜소비와 취하는 습관. 예의바른 사람들과 서로 챙기는 모습. 

안전한 치안. (비록 도둑질은 늘어났지만 다른 곳에 비하면 여전히 안전함)

런던은 낮은 건물들과 좁은 도로로 다른 대도시와 다르게 느껴지지만 좋아함

정말 심한농담. 사람들은 서로에 대해 받아들이는데 이건 놀랍다. 아직 인종차별주의자들은 있지만 전반적으로 다른 국가들보단 낫다고 생각함
