많은 외국인 관광객들이 한국에서 경험하는 것 중 감탄하는 것이 물건을 잃어버렸을 경우 그대로 돌려받는 것입니다. 19일 보도에 따르면 최근 중국관광객이 동대문 디자인프라자에서 현금 500만원이 든 명품가방을 잃어버렸으니 지나가다 이를 습득한 한국시민이 빠르게 분실물 신고를 한 덕분에 그대로 무사히 되찾은 사연이 전해졌습니다. 해당 중국인은 분실신고를 접수한 지 50분만에 가방을 되찾을 수 있었고 빠르게 되찾은 것에 대해 놀라움과 기쁨을 감추지 못했다고합니다.

My dad forgot his wallet when he was traveling in Seoul. Had a few $100 USDs and a handful of ₩50,000. My dad was freaking out because he had all of his IDs. 

He went to a nearby police station to report it missing and a good samaritan returned the wallet with all of its contents intact.

우리 아버지가 서울여행갔을때 지갑을 분실했는데 그 안에 백달러와 한국돈 5만원짜리 지폐 여러장이 있었대요. 그런데 그 안에 신분증도 있어서 아버지가 많이 놀랐죠. 그런데 별로 문제도 안됐어요. 가까운 경찰서 가서 신고했더니 선량한 사마리아인이 하나도 건들지 않은채로 찾아서 돌려줬답니다.

As some of the Korean commenters note, this is less about culture and more about CCTV presence. 

한국 네티즌들에 따르면 이건 문화라기 보다는 모든 곳에 CCTV가 있어서 그렇다고 하던데요.

한국에선 모든 게 안전하지만 자전거는.... 아 내자전거..

보기에 십대 청소년들의 과시문화로 그런 것 같아요. 왜그런진 모르겠지만 자전거엔 체인을 잘 묶어둬야해요.

When I lost my wallet, it was returned to my university. What shocked me was they didn’t touch my money as well. Really wish this kindness was universal in other countries.

When my friend lost her wallet in the subway, someone returned it, but took her metro card lol. They didn’t touch her money tho. Pretty funny.

내가 한국에서 지갑 잃어버렸을때 대학교로 되돌려줬어요. 놀랐던 것은 있던 현금을 전혀 건들지 않았던 거에요. 다른 나라들에서도 이런 친절함을 볼 수 있으면 좋겠네요. 내 친구는 지하철에서 지갑 잃어버렸었는데 누군가가 돌려주었지만 교통카드는 가져갔대요. 돈은 안건들고요. 웃기죠.

this isnt just in korea. In cancun Mexico, lost my wallet on public shuttle. Mexican gave it all back with full money inside ($1000). To them that is $10,000. Seems like anywhere there is a strong religious values tend to help out like this. 

꼭 한국만 그런 건 아니에요. 멕시코 칸쿤 셔틀버스에서 지갑 잃어버렸었는데 천불이나 되는 현금이랑 그대로 지갑 돌려받았어요. 사실 멕시코인들한테 달러 천불은 만불의 가치가 되는 돈이거든요. 이런 것처럼 어느곳에서나 이렇게 강한 종교적인 가치를 볼 수 있어요.

a few years ago my wife was hellbent on losing her damn iphone and all 3 times (in a 3-4 week time span btw) it was returned lol.

몇년전엔 부인이 한국에서 아이폰을 세번이나 잃어버리는 일이있었는데(그것도 3~4주 사이에) 전부다 돌려받았어요.

My husband once forgot to load our suitcase into the car and left it in a busy parking lot. We couldn’t drive back to get it until the next day. When we went to get it back, it was sitting right where he left it. Amazingly everything was still in it. A laptop, a Nintendo switch and some jewelry too. It would be gone in 10 minutes or less in the states.

내 남편은 우리 여행가방을 차안에 두는 걸 깜박하고 사람많은 주차장에 그대로 둔 적이 있었어요. 다음 날까지 다시 찾으러 갈 수도 없는 상황이였거든요. 다시 갔을때 그건 그대로 그 자리에 있던 거 있죠. 놀랍게도 안에 있는 물건들도 그대로였어요. 노트북과 닌텐도스위츠와 보석류도요. 미국이였음 10분만에 모든 것이 사라졌을텐데

Yeah I had my bike stolen twice locked in front of my apartment wonder what's up with that... Also had a phone stolen too. I don't have that Korea luck I guess.

살던 아파트 앞에서 두번이나 자전거 도둑맞았어요. 폰도 도둑맞았었고요. 난 한국에서 운이 안좋았나봐요.

한국에서 휴대폰을 어딘가에 두번 놓아두고 왔었는데 한번은 돌려받았고 두번째엔 그 자리에 그대로 있었어요!

Back in 2003, when digital cameras were still rare and expensive for the consumer market I left my brand new Fuji Finepix in a taxi together with a laptop. Was brought back the same day to the hotel reception. ????

2003년도에 디지털카메라가 아직 귀하고 비쌀때 새로운 후지카메라를 택시에 노트북과 함꼐 두고내렸는데 같은날 호텔리셉션으로 그대로 돌려받았어요.

Yeah the bike theft is real. I had mine chained up outside which I thought would be fine but it was gone within a month I think. Also knew a guy who had so many stolen he just gave up and bought a car lol

한국에 자전거도둑은 진짜에요. 괜찮을 거라 생각하고 자전거 체인에 묶어 밖에 놓아두었었는데 한달안에 분실했어요. 또 너무 여러번 자전거 도둑맞은 사람이 있었는데 결국 포기하고 차를 사더라고요.
