(레딧반응) 김건희 여사의 '개 식용 종식' 발언에 대한 육견협회 반발 

20일 대한육견협회가 윤대통령 부인 김건희씨의 '정부 임기 내 개 식용종식'에 노력하겠다고 발언한 사실에 대해 성명을 내고 반발했습니다. 보도자료에는 '김건희씨는 대통령도 아니고 국회의원도 아니고 대통령을 내조하는 사람이므로 중립을 지켜야한다, 우월적 지위를 이용해 이익단체인 동물보호단체의 편을 들어서 개고기를 금지하겠다는 것은 정치활동이고 월권이고 위헌이다. 박근혜대통령은 최순실씨때문에 탄핵당했고 김건희씨가 정치하면 윤대통령이 탄핵당해야 한다"고 주장했습니다. 

육견협회는 "이런 식이면 불교를 싫어하는 사람들이 많으면 불교를 없애도 되고, 기독교를 싫어하는 사람들이 많으면 기독교를 없애도 된다”며 “서로 다른 종교도 공존하고 있고, 헌법도 한쪽이 많다고 해 다른 쪽을 억압하거나 없애지 못하도록 하고 있다. 개고기만 ‘사회적 합의’니, ‘특별법’이니 하는 구차하고 치사한 방법을 사용하여 금지시키려고 하고 있는 것은 위헌”이라고 강조했습니다.

Korea's on spotlight and if they want to export their culture, this is a good move. I know the "meat is meat" argument, but if they want to be respected around the world, this is what they need. Japan has been on spotlight because of their whale hunting and dolphin slaughtering, and I believe it has hurt them and their soft power around the world. Korea could do without dog meat, and I'm glad they're doing this.

한국은 지금 전세계에서 조명받고 있는 나라인데 문화수출을 계속하고 싶으면 이번에 좋은 계기가 될 것 같네요. "고기는 고기다"란 주장을 이해하지만 세계인들의 존중을 받길 원한다면 해야할 일은 해야죠. 일본은 고래사냥과 돌고래 학살로 조명받은 바 있어요. 그리고 그건 그들의 평판과 소프트파워에 해가갔어요. 한국이 개식용 금지를 해내면 좋겠네요.

The dogs are treated absolutely horribly. 

Dog farming in Korea is not regulated and it's basically entirely done by the most backwards ass uneducated hillbillies who treat the dogs so awfully - partly because they have no space (I've seen dog farms with dozens of dozens of dogs cramped into a space barely bigger than my apartment and covered in shit and rusty cages), and partly because of weird beliefs about fear/beatings tenderizing the meat. These are some of the dumbest people on Earth - absolute garbage human beings who have not evolved. 

개들은 정말 끔찍하게 학대받아요. 한국의 개 농장들은 제대로 규제도 받지 않고 교육받지 않은 시골사람들이 개들을 몹시 험하게 다룹니다. 일단 적당한 공간도 없고요 수십개의 개 농장을 봤는데 내가 살고 있는 아파트보다 겨우 조금만 더 넓었고 배설물로 가득차있었어요. 그리고 고기를 부드럽게 한다고 개를 두들겨패요. 지구상엔 정말 멍청한 인간들이 있어요. 진화되지 않은 쓰레기들이죠.

There are two reasons.

Cows, pigs, chickens, etc. are all highly regulated, both in how they are kept and how they are killed. The dog meat trade is not. Most of them are rows of metal cages (dogs never get out of the cage) and they are killed inhumanely - won't go into it here, google it if you're curious, but it's not an instant death and it's on purpose because they think it imparts flavor into the meat with the method they use to kill the dog.

두가지 이유가 있는데, 소나 돼지 닭 등의 동물들은 사육하는 방식과 법으로 강하게 규제되고 있어요. 그런데 개고기는 그렇지가 않죠. 대부분 금속 울타리속에 가두고 한번도 밖에 나오지도 못하고 비인간적으로 죽임을 당하죠. 궁금하면 구글에 검색해봐요. 게다가 바로 죽는 것도 아니고 개고기 맛을 향상시키기 위한 방식으로 죽임 당합니다.

I think the loyalty of dogs to people is probably something that people don’t like about them being eaten, and the fact they are treated badly before they are killed 

개들이 인간에게 충성하는 방식때문에 대부분의 사람들은 개 식용을 반대하죠. 그리고 죽임당하기 전까지 끔찍하게 학대당하는 것 때문에도 그렇죠.

Dogs were raised & bred for thousands of years (16,000 years or possibly even 32,000 years ago) to be companions. They're so deeply ingrained into human culture that eating them is seen as repulsive. We quite literally evolved side by side.

개들은 16,000년 전 혹은 32,000년 전부터 인간과 함께 해오며 인류문화에 깊이 연관되어 왔기 때문에 개식용은 역겹게 여겨지는 겁니다. 개와 인간은 어떻게 보면 함께 진화해온 것이거든요.

How is dog meat farmed in Korea? Is it treated the same as cows and pigs or are the conditions worse similar to how dog meat is sometimes obtained in China?

한국의 개농장들은 어떤가요? 소나 돼지농장처럼 규제되고 있나요 아니면 중국처럼 최악의 환경인가요

But have you seen how pigs gets treated in America? I wanted to forget that.

그런데 미국 돼지농장의 돼지들이 어떻게 다뤄지는 지 아나요?  난 그저 잊고싶네요.

Yeah the meat industry is pretty bad. That’s why I think it’s important that things be on par and conditions be improved across the board.

(윗댓글에) 고기산업 환경은 정말 열악하죠. 그러니까 전세계적으로 같은 환경과 조건을 유지하는 것이 중요하다고 생각해요.

Honestly, dog meat restaurants are closing and the industry is dying as dogs become more popular as pets. No young people are eating them and very few older people are eating them. Either this law will get rid of them completely or they will naturally vanish. 

요즘 한국에서 개고기 식당들은 점점 닫히고 있다고하네요. 개가 점점 반려동물로 인기높아짐에 따라서 개식용 산업도 죽어가고 있고요. 젊은 사람들은 개고기 먹지도 않고 이제 나이든 사람들도 거의 안먹어요. 개고기금지 법안으로 완전히 없애거나 아님 자연스럽게 사라질 것 같네요.

Banning dog meat in Korea is like banning guns in USA. It is the right thing to do but always did it wrong.

한국에서 개식용금지하는 건 미국에서 총기규제하는 것과 같을겁니다. 금지하는 게 맞지만 항상 잘 안됐죠.

뭘 먹을 지 선택하는 건 사람의 권리아닌가요? 이미 금지된 식품이 많아요. 대마초처럼요.
