이 나라에선 흔한 일이지만 다른 곳에선 이상한 건 무엇?

예전에 기사 올린 바 있는데 뉴질랜드에선 공공장소에서도 사람들이 맨발로 다니는 일이 흔하지만 처음 보는 외국인들에겐 헉 할 일이죠. 이처럼 어떤 나라에선 익숙한 풍경이지만 다른 나라에선 진귀한 것엔 무엇이 있을까요.

This is a common thing in South Africa as well. It can be the hottest day and people will be walking barefoot on hot tarred roads, even during winter you will find someone walking barefoot outside.

남아프리카에서도 맨발로 다니는 건 종종있어요. 더운 날에 사람들은 맨발로 잘 다니죠. 심지어 겨울에도 맨발로 걷는 사람들을 볼 수 있다니까요.

If I’m not mistaken, other parts of the world pay their servers more livable wages and some countries it’s disrespectful to tip.

미국에서 흔한건 식당에서 늘 팁을 주는거죠. 다른 많은 나라에선 직원 급여에 서비스 팁 금액이 포함되어있어 팁을 잘 모르잖아요.

So in India if someone gave you food in a container , you always have to return the container unless it unopened. Also when you give back the container it has to have food in it otherwise it's kinda rude. 

인도에서는 누군가가 음식을 용기에 담아 주면 돌려줄때 항상 음식을 꼭 채워서 줘야해요. 그렇지 않으면 무례한거에요.

The most most ever normal to asian but relatively weird to westerners is that we call older people even though they are not your relatives or family we call them grandma, aunty, uncle etc... Now this is the thing.. I understand why they thought it was weird.

아시아에선 굉장히 흔한 일인데 나이든 사람들에게 가족이 아니더라도 할머니 할아버지라고 호칭하는 것이죠. 그런데 서양국가들에선 이상하게 들리겠죠.

In my country (Uruguay) "fatty" is an endearing way to call your partner regardless of gender. Also some men call their wives "the boss".

우리나라 우루과이에선 성별에 상관없이 배우자에게 "뚱보야"라고 부르는 것이 애칭이에요. 또 어떤 남자들은 자기 부인에게 "상사님"이라고 호칭하죠.

Here’s a good 1.  I’m from the Philippines.  Avocadoes grow in abundance in our country during the summer.  But we are not usually fond of Guacamole or avocado toast.

We usually mash avocadoes, add powdered or evaporated milk & sugar, or condensed milk and eat avocadoes as dessert.

I'm from Croatia and people (mostly older people) here are really superstitious. Like, my mom won't let me go outside with wet/damp hair, sit on a cold surface, walk barefoot(even in summer).
