10년간 도쿄 특파원으로 활동한 영국 BBC소속기자 루퍼트 윙필드가 25일 쓴 기사에서 "미국과 유럽이 오늘날 중국의 경제 성장을 두려워하듯 한때 일본을 두려워했지만, 세계가 예상한 일본은 오지 않았다. 일본은 제2차 세계대전의 폐허에서 벗어나 세계 제조업을 정복했고, 1993년 처음 일본에 도착했을 때 아시아에서 가장 부유하다고 느꼈다”고 말했습니다.
하지만 1991 버블경제 붕괴로 인한 부동산 절벽이 회복되지 않았고, 설상가상으로 심각한 고령화, 비효율적인 관료주의, 폐쇄적인 문화 등으로 인해 일본의 성장이 막혔다고 진단했습니다.

Alexander Leo Hurwitz it’s not the fact that they are not doing comparatively well, it’s just that the way things are it is on a downward trajectory and unless something changes Japan might not be one of the strongest economies in the next couple decades . ????
(윗댓글에) 일본이 상대적으로 잘하고 있다는 건 사실이 아니에요. 일본 상황은 과거로 후퇴하고 있고 변화가 있지 않는 한 일본은 앞으로 수십년간 강한 나라에서 벗어나게 될거에요.

sometimes perhaps a bit too much and some things are very outdated, it is often seen as a hi-tech country but it isn’t really, it does need a bit of modern influence perhaps.
때때로 지나치게 시대에 뒤쳐지기도 하지만 높은 기술력을 가진 나라이면서 또 현실적으론 그렇지 않죠. 현대적인 영향력이 좀 필요하긴합니다.

It's funny how many comments are from people who don't live there, and know nothing about actual life there, other than what they see in anime, manga, and TV/movies.
일본에서 살아보지도 못한 사람들의 수많은 댓글을 보니 웃기네요. 실제 일본인들이 어떻게 사는 지 아무것도 모르면서. 그저 만화 영화만 보고 말하는 데 웃기네요.
