영국에 현재 4살된 테디라는 남자아이가 있습니다. 테디는 26개월때부터 혼자 독학으로 읽기 시작했으며 코비드 락다운이 시작되었을 때부터 집에서 부모가 직접 가르쳤다고 하네요. 3살때 멘사의 지능테스트를 통해 멘사 회원이 되어 영국에서 가장 어린 멘사 회원이 되었습니다.

Reading at age two is not special, my kid did. It's called hyperlexia. What is awesome is his ability to count to 100 in so many different languages as not many kids can do that. Great job little genius.
2살때 글을 읽는 건 그렇게 특별한 건 아니에요. 우리아이도 그랬어요. 과독증이라고도 하죠. 놀라운 건 테디가 그렇게 많은 여러가지 언어로 100까지 셀 줄 안다는 거네요. 많은 아이들이 그것까진 못하는데요. 정말 작은 천재네요.

Wouldn’t be surprised if this little guy was on the spectrum. My 7 year old is on the spectrum and is non verbal when it comes to communication but will repeats things he hears including counting in foreign languages. His favourite right now is Russian. Does the Russian alphabet too. Few months ago it was Japanese.
그런데 저 작은 아이가 자폐범주성 장애가 있어도 놀랍지 않을 것 같아요. 우리 7살 아이가 자폐인데 의사소통은 잘 못하지만 외국어를 포함해 그가 귀로 듣는건 모두 다 따라해요. 지금 제일 좋아하는 언어는 러시아어고요. 러시아 글자도 좋아해요. 몇달전엔 일본어였는데요.

I was able to read at the age of three by just watching my sister study.
It’s fine if the child enjoys it- but I hope they let him be his age. No reason to rush.
전 4살때 언니가 공부하는 걸 보며 읽는 법을 배웠어요. 아이가 그런걸 즐긴다면 괜찮아요. 하지만 항상 그 나이에 맞게 있을 수 있도록 해주길 바래요. 급할 거 없잖아요.

I hope he has as normal a life as possible, emotionally he's still a very little boy, hard for parents too.
테디가 가능한한 평범한 삶을 살길 바래요. 정신적으론 아직 아주 아기잖아요. 부모에겐 어렵겠지만요.
