영국 성탄절 시청률 1위는 찰스 3세의 연설

영국 찰스3세가 즉위한 후 첫 연설을 성탄절에 했습니다. 이 첫 성탄절 연설은 영국민 1천만명 이상이 시청했다고 합니다. 찰스 3세 국왕은 사전 녹화된 이번 성탄절 연설에서 공공 서비스 인력의 헌신을 치하하고 어려운 이웃을 돕는 공동체 정신을 강조했으며 다양한 종교를 인정했습니다. 전반적으로 경제적으로 힘들어하는 서민들의 고충을 언급하는 등 사회 정치적인 사안도 고인이 된 엘리자베스 여왕보다 더 다루었다고 합니다. 

여러가지 욕먹었던 이전 일화와는 달리 이번 메시지는 다수에게 감동을 주었나봅니다.

As an American, I’ve always admired the Queen Elizabeth II. King Charles III is doing a fantastic job and I’m sure the Queen would be very proud. He gave a very moving message.
