(영국) 주4일 근무제 참여기업들, 생산성에 있어 긍정적인 평가

22일 뉴욕타임스에 따르면 영국의 주4일 근무제 실험에 참여한 41개 기업 중 85%에 해당하는 35개 기업이 앞으로도 주4일근무를 계속하는 정책에 있어 "가능성 있다" 또는 "가능성이 매우 높다"라고 대답했다 합니다. 

주4일이라고 해서 금토일을 일괄적으로 쉬는 것이 아니라 기업에 따라 수요일 혹은 금요일에 쉬는 것으로 했는데 고객들은 어떤 차이도 느끼지 못했다고 하고 회사가 같은 양의 일을 하고 있다하네요. 

모든 업종에서 그렇게 할 수는 당연히 없겠지만 가능한 곳은 실현해볼만한 계획이네요.

ABSOLUTELY! I'd much rather work four 10's, rather than five 8's!!! Worked fabrication shops that employed both schedules. The 4 day work week provides 72 hours with which to recover from the work week and affords quality time with friends, family and time to tackle the projects on the honey-do list. Both, the work week and the long weekends are welcomed! Moderation is the key to ALL aspects of life!

정말 맞아요! 하루에 8시간 일하느니 주4일로 하고 하루에 10시간을 일하는 게 훨씬 낫겠어요. 이런 두 스케줄로 돌아가는 제조가게에서 일했는데 주4일제로 근무하면 약 72시간으로 친구들과 가족들 그리고 집안에서 해야할일등을 충분히 할 수 있는 귀중한 시간이 됩니다. 

주4일제와 긴 주말은 정말 환영이에요. 인생의 모든 면에 있어 현대화가 핵심이네요.

Can’t be done everywhere but my work implemented 4 day week a couple years ago, easily the best change to ever happen in my work life, mon/thurs every week, 10-11 hour shifts, long weekend every week, life changing

모든 분야해서 이루어질 순 없겠지만 내 직종은 몇년전에 주4일제를 실행한 바 있어요. 직장생활에서 일어난 가장 최고의 변화였죠. 매주 월~목 근무에 일 10~11시간 일하고 매주 긴 주말을 보내니 삶이 달라지더라고요.

Three years ago I was doing a four night week. 10 hours a night. Every weekend was a three day weekend and the work nights flew by. Then the so called "pandemic" happened and that was the end of that. Unsurprisingly a rich retired ex politician or whatever he was doesn't want to see working class people having all that leisure time. 

3년전에 주4일 야간근무를 해봤어요 매일 밤에 10시간씩 근무했죠. 매주말이 3일동안이였고 밤엔 계속 일했죠. 그러다가 펜데믹이 들이닥쳤고 그건 끝났어요. 아니다다를까 은퇴한 부자 전직 정치인이 노동자계급이 그렇게 일하면서 여가시간을 가지는 것이 싫었던거죠.

It depends on the employee.  A productive employee will remain productive no matter the schedule.  The risk is in burning out your best employees. 

이건 근로자에 따라 달라요. 생산성 높은 근로자는 스케줄이 어떻든지간에 생산성을 유지하겠죠. 리스크는 가장 잘하는 근로자가 지쳐버리는 거죠.

I do three day week.  Long shifts but Friday , Saturday, Sunday and Monday off am very happy.

전 주3일 근무해요. 일할때 길게 일하지만 금토일월은 쉬어서 너무 해복해요.

So will the stock exchange and NHS close for one day? What about transport, haulage, police, military, politicians... A 4-day working week is just for the privileged few.

그런데 그렇게 되면 주식시장과 국민보건서비스는 어떻게 되나요? 대중교통, 화물수송, 경찰, 군대, 정치인들.. 주4일 근무제는 특권을 가진 소수를 위한 거네요.

Stock exchange already closes for the weekend, no problem there. NHS operates round the clock so are already running shifts patterns. Everything else you listed can be answered with either of the above.

(윗댓글에) 주식시장은 이미 주말엔 닫아서 문제없어요. 국민보건서비스는 24시간 운영되는 거기때문에 이미 교대근무하고 있어요. 그밖에 다른 건 이런식으로 답변들을 수 있을 거에요.

So if we are only productive for a few short hours each day, why not have shorter days, but work 7 days a week by their logic.

그런데 그 논리에따르면 우리가 매일 짧은 시간동안만 생산성이 있다면 주7일일하고 짧은시간만 일하는거는요.

Nothing new here I have been working a 4 day week for years 4 X 12hrs. I really think some people expect to work less hours and get the same pay.

별로 새로울 건 없네요. 수년간 주4일근무제 하루에 12시간씩 일해오고 있는데요. 몇몇사람들은 일은 적게 하고 똑같이 돈받길 바라는 것 같네요.

There are plenty of firms who work 4 on 4 off so In effect already do a 4 day week.

주5일근무제처럼 생산성이 있진 않을겁니다. 특히 세계시장에서 경쟁해야할때 말이죠.

It's been tried before and failed, especially in the manufacturing industry. It maybe alright for those that don't actually produce anything but to knock off 20% of the nations productivity is stupid

주4일근무제는 예전에 시도되었으나 실패했어요.  특히 제조산업분야에서요. 뭔가를 제조하지 않아도 되는 분야에선 괜찮을지 몰라도 국가생산성의 20%를 중단하는 건 멍청한 짓이죠.

Wrong, as someone who works in manufacturing, and been on a four day week for a couple years now, we don’t work less hours, we work the same, adding a couple hours onto each of those 4 days. Been the best work life change, long weekend every week, it’s amazing.

(윗댓글에) 아니요. 제조산업에 일하는 사람으로서 몇년동안 지금까지 주4일근무제하고 있어요. 더 적게 일하는 것도 아니고요 똑같이 일합니다. 다만 4일동안 매일 몇시간을 더 추가해서 일하죠. 내 최고의 인생변화에요. 매주 긴 주말보내고요. 정말 좋아요.
