신보다 돈 많이 번 석유기업들 

전쟁이 나면 잔혹하고 비참한 상황이 벌어지는 가 하면 또 한쪽에선 전쟁을 통한 천문학적인 이득을 취합니다. 그 중의 하나가 바로 석유기업들이라고 하네요. 

추운 겨울이 예고된 유럽 국가들은 치솟은 에너지 가격으로 천문학적인 수익을 벌어들인 에너지 기업들에게 초과 이윤세, 이른바 횡재세를 걷기로 했답니다. 

참고로 조바이든 미국대통령은 지난 6월 연설에서 엑손모빌(미국의 석유회사)은 올해 하느님보다 더 많은 돈을 벌었습니다 라고 언급한 바도 있죠. 

관련하여 영국 BBC뉴스에서도 러시아의 우크라이나 침공사태로 어마어마한 수익을 낸 석유기업 쉘에 대한 보도를 했습니다.

It's disgusting. We are struggling to run our cars and shell make record profits. The government needs to step in and demand shell reduce the price oil if they want to operate in the UK. McDonald's are losing 50 million pounds a week by closing all their restaurants in Russia. So it's absolutely appalling to hear shell have made 7 billion profit because of the war in Ukraine.

이건 역겹네요. 우린 자동차 끌고 다니기도 힘든데 석유회사는 기록적인 수익을 내고 있으니 말이에요. 정부가 개입해서 영국에서 계속 장사하고 싶은 기름값을 떨어드리라고 해야돼요. 맥도날드는 러시아에서 모든 지점을 닫아 매주 5천만불씩 손해보고 있어요. 그러니 쉘이 우크라이나 침공사태로 70억불의 이득을 챙겼다는 소리를 들으니 끔찍합니다.

As a shareholder I am pleased with their profits and demand that you do not attempt to coerce the government into meddling with Shell. 

쉘의 주주주로서 난 좋아요. 그러니 정부가 개입해서 강요하는 일 없었으면 좋겠네요.

Of course they did, OPEC and oil companies have been artificially keeping prices high by restricting supply. 

물론 돈 엄청벌어들였겠죠. OPEC와 석유기업들은 공급제안을 하면서 높은 기름값을 인위적으로 유지해오고 있어요.

We're lucky. When the oil companies jack up the price we just buy less. These fuel prices, especially for home heating oil, are completely out of control. Governments are useless

우린 운이 좋은거네요. 석유기업들이 기름값을 대폭인상하면 그냥 덜 사면 되죠. 

특히 가정난방때문에 쓰는 연료비는 완전 통제밖이에요. 정부들이 쓸모없어요.

And in Germany they wanted to give oil companies money to lower the prices until they found out that they didnt drop the prices becuase they just wanted this money. 

독일에선 석유기업들이 가격을 낯추지 않으니까 정부가 오히려 돈을 주려고했어요.

기업들은 그냥 그 돈을 원하고 있었던 거죠.

Prices didn't have to go up they just wanted more profit and used an excuse. For some reason I'm not surprised wonder why that is

Yes, all the Oil Companies are profiteering, but so too are Governments when Petrol is taxed as a percentage of the price.
