로마 시대 서로 마주보고 볼일 보던 시절

그 당시에는 배변하는 게 개인적인게 아니라 자연스러운 생리현상으로

그냥 앉아서 소셜하는 시간으로 즐겼다 하네요. 

다음사람을 위해 흐르는 물에 막대기를 헹구고 냄새를 막기 위해 앞의 식초에 담가 놓았다고 합니다. 

저는 그림의 들고 있는 숟가락 같은 건 무슨 용도....일까 했는데...

앞의 홈의 흐르는 물을 퍼서 용변후에 닦는 용도라고 합니다;;;;

About 20 years ago, I was in Italy and visiting my Aunt's who's house goes back over 100 years, but renovated up to current standards.  They still kept the out house as a memorial and amazing to see that.

20년 정도 전에 이탈리아가서 이모집에 방문했는데 이모집은 100년도 더 전에 지어진 거였지만 요즘 기준에 맞게 리모델링되어있었어요. 그 집은 여전히 기억에 남고 보기 훌륭했어요.

When I did my Finnish military training in the 80s, our toilet set-up was similar to the one of Romans.

I have a house built in 1886, and I found a chamber pot in the ditch in the backyard with my metal detector. People have been using those things right up to the days when modern plumbing started being installed.

우리집은 1886년도에 지어졌어요. 예전에 금속탐지기로 뒷마당에서 요강을 발견한 적이 있죠. 그때 사람들은 현대 배관 시스템이 설치될때까지 그렇게 사용했었나봐요.

 If you've ever been camping or lived in rural areas, this stuff doesn't shock you. But, most city people can't even compute this behavior.

시골에서 캠핑하거나 살고 있다면 이런 건 그렇게 놀랍지도 않아요. 하지만 대부분의 도시 사람들은 이런 행동을 상상조차 못하죠.
